Jack E. Munnis, age 82, died Monday April 11, 2016 at Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley. He was the beloved husband of the late Rita I. (Mickie) Munnis who died in 2010. He was born in Winchester, May 22, 1933, son of the late Eldridge F. and Edith E. (Watson) Munnis. Jack was Past Master of Thomas Talbot Lodge in Billerica, MA and a former member of the Shriner's Aleppo Temple in Wilmington. He was a drummer in the Shriner's Colonial Minuteman Marching Band and marched with them at events and parades, including the Bicentennial Parade on Bunker Hill in 1976. He took great pride in being a part of the Masonic brotherhood and in their efforts to better their organization and the community. He was a very proud of his military service and liked to reminisce about his time in the navy, particularly time spent aboard the Destroyer, USS John W. Weeks, during the Korean War. Jack also loved traveling and camping with his wife Mickie and his family. He loved holiday gatherings and spending time with his large family and friends. He enjoyed attending Colonial re-enactments, the Scottish Highland Games, playing golf, hunting, swimming, ice skating and playing hockey. Jack was a great car mechanic and was adept at fixing almost anything! He repaired the cars of almost every person he knew at one time or another. We will miss him more than we can say! Besides his beloved wife, Rita I. (Mickie) Munnis, he was also predeceased by his infant son, Phillip J. Munnis who died in 1959. He is survived by 9 of his 10 children, Alida E. Carnevale and her husband, Robert, Cheryl A. Mitis-Hamelin, Jack E. Munnis, Jr., and his wife, Sandra, Brenda M. Kilbride and her husband, Thomas, Annette D. Baker and her husband, Christopher, Bonnie J. Hadley, Theresa L. Munnis, Collette S. Hathaway, Peter W. Munnis and Michael Lamothe. He also leaves his sisters, Elizabeth J. (Sis) Pelland and Patricia A. Finnerty, his three sisters-in-law, Jeanette Munnis, Dorothy DiFazio and Susanne Fraser. He is also survived by his 16 grandchildren, Yanni Mitis, Nikolaos Mitis, Jackilyn Jensen, Thomas Layton, Christopher Baker, Courtney Baker, Brianna Baker, Brittany Hathaway, Ashley Sirois, Patrick Kilbridge, Joshua Munnis, Gabrielle Hathaway, Liam Kilbride, Emily Hadley, Shaylyn Munnis and Anna Hadley and his 12 great grandchildren, John Jensen, Mya Mitis, James Jensen, Wesley Mitis, Gracelynn Kenyon, McKenna Layton, Jackson Gibbs, Linnea Jensen, Mary Stoffa, Declan Mitis, Camden Mitis, Amelia Jensen, a new granddaughter due in May as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Let us not forget his beloved cat Willie! He was also the brother of the late George E. Munnis.
