Obituary of Carol A. Brown
BILLERICA – Carol A. Brown, age 77, passed away Monday, February 20, 2017, in Billerica. She was born in Lynn, Massachusetts on July 31, 1939, daughter of the late Valmore and Marie Dion. Carol was predeceased by her beloved husband of 34 years, Melville C. Brown. Carol served the Town of Billerica for 24 years, first in the Veterans Office and then in the Assessor’s Office, prior to her retirement. Carol loved children and animals and her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She also enjoyed vacationing with Mel on Martha's Vineyard and the coast of southern Maine. Carol and Mel worked with children with autism for several years. Later in life Carol volunteered at the Billerica Council of Ageing, and throughout her life was a great supporter of the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA) and Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary on Martha’s Vineyard. She was the beloved mother of David Cross from Westford MA, Mary Beth Thomas and her husband, Gerald, from Sanford, ME, and Timothy Cross and his wife, Pamela, from Lancaster, MA; and her stepchildren, Joy Johnson from Rehoboth, MA, Jeffrey Brown from Hudson, NH, Todd Brown and his wife, Charlene, from Hudson, NH, and Jennifer Beaton from Chelmsford, MA. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Andrew, Rebecca, Jacqueline, Collette, Aubrey and Cecilia, all of whom she adored.
