Helen (Burns) Woods, 82, of Billerica, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2017, lovingly surrounded by her family. She was married to George L. Woods, Sr. for 45 years, before his death in 1997. Helen lived a beautiful, adventurous life, bringing joy to all who knew her. She was the daughter of Thomas and Viola Burns, and grew up in Watertown, MA. After her marriage, she traveled to many places throughout the world with her military husband, raising six children along the way. In 1972, she returned to Massachusetts, where she became a real estate broker. In 1977, she and her husband founded Woods Real Estate. Among her passions, Helen enjoyed gardening and dancing. She was a member of the Irish American Club of Billerica. Afterwards, she discovered that she was part Italian and joined the Italian American Club of Billerica. For several years, she raised money to send care boxes to the military in Afghanistan, which twice earned her a nomination for Senior Citizen of the Year. Helen is survived by her children and their spouses: Chuck and Marion Barnes of Colorado; George and Carol Woods, Jill Woods, Lewis and Patricia Zediana, and Robert and Ruth Harris, all of Billerica; her brother Gerald Burns, of Florida; 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson.
