Murray B. Hicks, Jr., of Dracut, formerly of Billerica, died unexpectedly, Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Willow Manor Nursing Home in Lowell. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara R. Camplese. Born in Pittsfield, MA, September 2, 1938, he was the son of the late Murray and Doris (Hall) Hicks, Sr. Murray was an outstanding athlete at Chelmsford High School, playing four sports, basketball, baseball, golf and football. He was also captain of the football team. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He later served in United States Army. After the service, Murray started his own business, Hicks Painting and Wallpaper Company in Billerica. He is survived by his three brothers, Bruce Hicks of Milford, NH, William Hicks of Goffstown, NH, and Peter Hicks of VT and his sister, Barbara Hicks of Chicago. He also leaves his three grandchildren, Joe Bower, Jeffrey Lavoie and Jillian Natalie. He was also the brother of the late Robert, Richard, John and Gary Hicks.
