Obituary of Randall A. Vance
Randall A. Vance, 57, died peacefully on Friday, August 11, 2017, with family and friends by his side following a heroic battle with cancer.
Randall was born in St. Albans, VT on March 11, 1960. He was the Beloved husband of Donna A. (Abbott) Vance of Wakefield, and the son of George R. Vance and the late Lucille M (Hardy) Vance of Swanton, VT.
"Randy" was a graduate of Missisquoi Valley Union High School and Champlain College. He worked for Brown Brothers Harriman (Boston, MA) as a Senior Programmer Analyst.
Randy spent many years volunteering his time coaching Billerica Youth Basketball, but truly loved coaching numerous Billerica girls’ youth soccer teams with enthusiasm and skill. Randy was a volunteer for the BYSA, an avid Bruins Fan, and had a passion for sports. He enjoyed golfing, biking, running, skiing, and hiking. He was also a member of the 4,000 footer club of the White Mountains.
Randy would greatly appreciate time spent with family and friends. He could put a smile on anyone’s face and was blessed by friends who supported and stuck with him through his battle. A true fighter nicknamed "Superman" to the numerous people he inspired through his passion, strength, and determination during his 8-year cancer battle, beating the odds and working hard to accomplish goals in between surgeries and treatments. When he could not run or hike anymore he started to bike and rode in the Pan Mass Challenge for as many years as he could.
Randy cherished his family time with wife and children. He was an exceptional and supportive father and is idolized by his daughters. They had so much fun and endless laughs growing up. In addition to the fun he was a hard worker and true provider to his family.
Besides his wife and father he is survived by two loving daughters, Stephanie of Troy, NY and Amanda of Billerica; his brothers, George Vance and his wife Robin of Highgate, VT, Jeffrey Vance and his wife Cheryl of Milton, VT, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother William Vance.
Forever in our hearts Superman, rest and play in the sweetest peace.
