Maria J. (Salvador) Estrela, age 79, died Friday, September 1, 2017, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Manuel T. Estrela, III to whom she was married 54 years. Born November 19, 1937 in Terceira, Azores, she was the daughter of the late José and Maria José (Pereira) Salvador. She worked for Hewlett-Packard/Medical equipment for 20 years as an assembler. Maria, who enjoyed cooking and sewing, especially loved caring for her family, in particular her grandsons. She was a faithful communicant with her family at St. Theresa’s Church in Billerica. Besides her husband, she is survived by her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Madalena (Estrela) Alves and her husband, João, of Billerica; her two loving grandsons, Steven and Adam Alves, also of Billerica; her sisters, Ana Comtois and her husband, Gerard of Milford, NH, Iria Salvador and Bemvinda Salvador, both of Terceira, Azores, and Filomenia Peixoto of San José, CA; her brothers, José Salvador, and his wife, Maria of Tracy, CA, and Luçio Salvador and his wife, Nair of Lisbon, Portugal; and her sister-in-law, Lucia Salvador of Canada. She also leaves many nieces and nephews in the Azores, Portugal, Canada, California, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Maria was also the sister of the late João Salvador.
