Obituary of William A. Terrio

William (Bill) A. Terrio, Sr., of Peabody, formerly of Billerica, Concord and Waltham, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2017, at the V.A. Hospital in Bedford, MA. Bill was born November 21, 1926, in Waltham, MA, to Marshall and Esther Terrio. He had an older brother, the late Marshall Terrio and a younger sister, Ann Johnson, of Yarmouthport, MA. Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Eileen (Barry) Terrio, to whom he was married for 64 years, and five children: Bill Terrio, Jr.,and his wife, Katherine of Seal Beach, CA, Dan Terrio and his wife, Sheryl of Cocoa, FL, Rick Terrio and his wife, Laurie of Townsend, MA, Maureen Spring and her husband, Bill of Kensington, CT., and Paul Terrio of Delray Beach, FL. He leaves six adored grandchildren: Jenna Terrio,Patrick and Bonnie Terrio, Michael and Kimberly Spring, and Sandi Terrio. He also leaves numerous nephews and nieces. Bill was a graduate of St Mary's High School in Waltham and Boston College. He served in the Navy as a Seabee during World War II and saw action at the Battle of Okinawa. He had a lengthy career in sales and had his own distribution business for a number of years. Bill was active in Concord youth sports, sometimes serving as a hockey coach. At St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Billerica he served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Espousal Prayer Community in Waltham for 30 years. He volunteered his time for numerous charities including soup kitchens, the Fernald School in Waltham, the Campion Center nursing home for retired priests, and others. Bill studied martial arts and earned a 2nd degree black belt in his 70's. At the same time, he became interested in art which became his favorite hobby. He also enjoyed traveling the world with his cherished wife. He loved reading and followed Boston College football and hockey. He also enjoyed watching the Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins. Bill was a devoted family man who had a warm personality, lively sense of humor, and down to earth manner that allowed those around him to feel very comfortable. He will be missed by his family and friends. The Terrio family would like to thank the VA Hospital in Bedford, MA, for the wonderful care they provided to our father.
