Obituary of Phyllis F. Staples
Phyllis F. (Anderson) Staples passed away to her Lord Jesus on Sunday December 17, 2017 at the age of 83. She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Lewis E. Staples, Sr. and three children: Faye Sorterup (and her husband Grant & 5 grandchildren. ), Laurel Patten (and her husband James) and Lewis E. Staples, Jr.
She was predeceased by her parents Harry J. Anderson and Mildred G. (Beattie) Anderson and a sister Shirley (Anderson) Philbrick. She is also survived by a niece Valerie (Philbrick) Herrick and her aunt Estelle (Anderson) Gibbs.
Phyllis taught a 2nd grade class in the original Ditson School in Billerica from 1957 to 1963 when she left to have and raise her 3 children. She taught classes in 2 Christian Church Schools in the 1980s and also substituted in several local public elementary schools.
She was active in the Order of Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron of Acacia Chapter No. 80 in 1971. She also joined Billerica Chapter No. 212 and Oppela Temple No 50, Daughters of the Nile.
She always loved the outdoors and being physically active. She loved going to the beach, and went on many bike rides.
She enjoyed swimming with the Granite State Penguins, a swimming team affiliated with U.S. Masters Swimming.
She had a deep Christian faith, and was active in Church and in many Bible study and prayer groups.
It was Phyllis's wish not to be “Viewed”, so there are no visiting hours.
There will be a Memorial Service, Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 2 PM at the Dunstable Congregational Church in Dunstable MA.,with light refreshments afterward.
Burial will be private later at the convenience of the family.
