I am a classmate of Michael O'Reagan and my sister, Joyce, went to school with Brian at St. Mary's School. Their father, Michael, had a great influence on my life and I would like to share the story. When I was about 10 years old, I told Sgt. O'Reagan that I wanted to be a police officer like him. He responded that they "didn't let little girls become cops". In spite of his words, I DID become a police officer out-of-state (my husband was in the military for 23 years) and, eventually, made Sergeant. During a visit home, I sought out Sgt. O'Reagan to let him know that I had achieved my goal of becoming a cop! Of course, he had no recollection whatsoever of our conversation many years ago. However, he gave me a big hug and wished me well in my law enforcement career. He was my inspiration to become a police officer in spite of his advice (which was par for the course back in the 1960's). RIP, Sgt. O'Reagan. I have told this story many times over the years but never to your family. My condolences to Mike, Brian and the rest of the O'Reagan family on your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
