Obituary of Debra Ann Mock

Debra Mock passed away on Friday, August 17, 2018 at the Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, Mass after a long battle with cancer. She was 60 years old. She was born Debra Ann Topping in Boston Massachusetts on February 23, 1958, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Sandra Topping. Debra preferred to be called “Debbie”. In 1973 Debbie's parents moved the family from Boston to Florida. In 1974 Debbie met and married Roland Mock Jr.. Roland's work opportunities took him and his new wife to Texas, Montana, back to Florida and eventually to North Carolina. Together they had two children. First, a boy, Roland Mock III in 1976, and then a girl, Angie Mock in 1978. Debbie's faith helped sustain her through life's challenges. In 1995 she and her husband separated. Debbie decided to return to Boston to be with her mother and grandmother. In Boston Debbie met her soul-mate, Angel Fletcher (Linda). Angel's large extended family of 9 siblings and Angel's two children, Sandra and David, added to the full and rich life Debbie and Angel shared for 23 years. Debbie worked as a General Manager in the fast food industry, earning a reputation of being exceptionally fair and balanced. As a manager she guided the younger employees through their struggles to become responsible young adults in the public service industry. She never had a shortage of people wanting to work for her. She developed the hobby of coloring and created many beautiful multicolored drawings, offering them as gifts to friends and family. She also enjoyed quilting and an occasional trip to the casino – the buffaloes and wicked winnings were her favorite slots. Debbie's priority was her two children whom she loved with all her heart. She said “they give my life meaning”. A loving mother, sister, and partner, Debbie will be remembered for her contagious laugh and compassionate love for those less fortunate. Her trust in God's plan and the loving support she received from family and friends helped her to live the last years of her life to the fullest. Debbie and Angel went on many trips with Debbie's brother's, Robbie and Kenny, forming lots of joyful memories. They went on cruises to Bermuda, the Bahamas, and other places in the Caribbean where Debbie enjoyed not only the beaches, but the variety of international cuisines offered on the cruise ship. Debra is survived by her partner Angel Fletcher (Linda), her daughter, Angie Whiteside and her husband Lewis, her son Roland Mock III and his wife Cyndi, as well a 4 grandchildren: Paige Whiteside, Kaitlin Hall, Shanya Whiteside, Nathaniel Mock, and one great grand daughter, Nylah Fowler. Debra is also survived by two younger brothers Kenneth and Robert Topping, her Aunt Carol Nichols, her Aunt Barbara Adams, her Uncle Eddie Topping as well as many cousins who loved her dearly.
