Obituary of Cindy Ann Madsen
Cindy Madsen, born Cynthia Ann Crosby, was the third child of Fred and Marion Crosby of Billerica. She had two older sisters, Marion (Crosby) O'Neill and Joanne (Crosby) Parsley, and a younger brother Fred Crosby. In 1970 she married Thomas Grady Padgett, also of Billerica. They had 2 children, Tina Marion (Padgett) Ellis, born in 1972 and Thomas Brian Padgett born in 1975. In 1980, she and Thomas Padgett divorced, though throughout their lives they remained dear friends. In 1987 Cindy moved to Arizona where she later met and married Charles Cha. They then moved to Texas where they eventually divorced. Cindy and Charles also remained close friends. In 2014 Cindy moved back to Lowell to live with her brother, where she remained until her death on August 6, 2018.
Cindy was a beloved mother to her daughter Tina, Son-in-law, Jerry L Ellis Jr., her son Thomas, and Daughter-in-law Ashley (Steelhammer) Padgett. Cindy was also a very proud Grandmother to Jerry and Tina Ellis' son Boston Elijah, and Thomas and Ashley Padgett's three children, Thomas Salem, Frances Molly and Athenry Clover.
Cindy was a nurse for more than 25 years. She then became a Foster Parent for medically needy children. She worked miracles with these neglected and underserved children, from teaching children who were intubated from birth how to eat and having their tubes successfully removed, to teaching wheelchair-bound children to walk. She was also extremely creative and talented. She painted many themed rooms in homes and created stained glass windows. She created custom concrete floors with paints and stains. She also loved tending a garden and eating and sharing the fruits of her labor.
