Obituary of Charles R. Myers

Charles Robert Myers died from a heart attack on 19 October, 3 days after his 70th Birthday. He was residing with his son and daughter-in-law in Dracut, MA. Born 16 October 1948 in Dixon, Illinois to Robert Myers and Charlene (Eberly) Myers. Chuck was retired from the Local 33 Sheet Metal Workers Union based in Toledo, Ohio with over 25 years of consecutive service. He worked in the heating and air conditioning industry for most of his life, following in his fathers footsteps. Chuck enjoyed his home projects, bowling, beer and of course, keno. He was well known in Bowling Green for his ability to pick winning numbers, earning the respected name of “Keno Chuck”! His true passion was spending time at his dock and on his boat catching walleye and perch on Lake Erie in Curtis, Ohio. Chuck was a lifetime member of the 1148 VFW Post in Bowling Green, Ohio. He held the positions of Junior Vice Commander, Senior Vice Commander, Post Commander and Quartermaster over the years. He was also a Lifetime Member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He graduated from Owens Technical College in 1973 with an Associates Degree in Civil Engineering. He graduated High School in 1966 from Dixon High School located in Dixon, Illinois. Chuck was in the US Army from July 1966 to July 1972. He was a Decorated Combat Veteran, serving 3 tours in Vietnam as a door gunner in the UH-1B (Huey) Helicopter. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Medal. He is survived by his Sister and Brother-In-Law (Sue and Dan Lockner), his Brother (Robert Myers), his Son and Daughter-in-law (John and Michelle Myers), his Daughter and Son-in-law (Jalaine and Devin Davis), his Grandchildren (Payge and Devin Davis) and his Step-Grandsons (Austin and Dalton Skinner). He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Charlene Myers. Memorial services are being planned for July 2019. Our family would like to give special thanks to Francis Burns and Austin Skinner at Burns Funeral Home in Billerica, MA for providing the most amazing assistance in handling all our needs during this difficult time.
