Obituary of Virginia M. Rogers

Virginia M. (Truax) Rogers, died Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Care One at Essex Park Nursing Home in Beverly.  She was the beloved wife of the late Charles M. Rogers. Born in Cambridge, MA, November 5, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Hayes Truax and Elizabeth (Hamilton) McElhenny. Virginia worked for the Singer Sewing Machine Company and MACOM in Burlington. She was a longtime resident of Billerica, a former president of the Greater Lowell Republican Women’s Club, and a member of the First Congregational Church. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Currier of Beverly, and her son, Charles Rogers of WI.  Virginia also leaves her brother, James McElhenny, her grandchildren, Bonnie and Harold Currier IV, Cindy Schulist, Ben and Karl Rogers, and other family members. She was predeceased by her sons William Rogers and Thomas Rogers, her sister Lois Anderson, and her son-in-law Harold Currier. Funeral services will be held in the First Congregational Church, 18 Andover Rd., Billerica, Wednesday, December 12, at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours in the Burns Funeral Home, 354 Boston Rd., (Rt. 3A), Billerica, Tuesday, 4:00 – 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Virginia’s name to the church.
