Dear Jane,
I wish I lived close enough so I could see you and we could talk about what a wonderful man Bob was. I am sure you have many great stories about his escapades as he was a truly energetic, interesting and funny guy.
So very sorry for your loss. Hope you are well and able to enclose your large and caring family into your loving embrace. I always enjoyed your company as you both were very dear.
Love, Doreen

Jane and Co: I treasured Bob and Jane when we all attended the UU church in Woodstock (North Chapel Society), most recently when Daniel was our minister. Bob was so useful to me when I was a counselor at the high school and he donated books which would enlighten kids to gender variation. He was himself a very enlightened person, a kind and generous person, with great wit and ease in relationship. Bob made the world a better place because he was in it. He was a morally developed person with strong and empathic conscience. I am so sorry for his family; his loss will be felt keenly. Am sending love your way.

I am so sorry that I won't be able to give my condolences to Bob's family in person next week, and I'm also very sorry that I'm going to miss hearing other people's remembrances of him. He was such a good, good guy, and everyone knew that! As a long-term CRLS faculty member, I knew Bob to be one of those people on whom I and others could always depend to help us out with resources and advice when it came to any kind of a cause or project that was likely to be good for all students, good for the city of Cambridge, and good for the world beyond Cambridge, too. And he doled out all of his helpful goodness with such good cheer, such certain appreciation, and such sincere enthusiasm. I feel privileged to have had such a long experience of his big heart, keen mind, and generous spirit. Thinking of his family and dearest friends as I write this: may your many wonderful memories of Bob console you.

To the Richards family:
I’m so sorry to learn of Bob’s passing. But very glad he didn’t suffer long with that miserable disease. I had a chance to join the old crew for dinner earlier this year and sat by Bob and it was good to have a chance to catch up. He was active in some of the good political debates on my Facebook wall. And he really wanted to get up to Kennebunkport again and visit. He will be missed. Wishing for you memories that lift you and peace.
