Obituary of Richard B Bemis
Richard Bruce Bemis, age 82, died Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at St. Vincent’s Hospital after some complications from pneumonia. He was the widow of his beloved wife and high school sweetheart, Betty Anne (Anderson) Bemis. Richard was born in Everett, Massachusetts on November 28, 1936, the son of the late Howard Bruce Bemis, Jr. and Lillian May (Gulliksen) Bemis. A former resident of Billerica since 1951 and recently Dodge Park Rest Home in Worcester. Richard is a member of the last graduating class from Howe High School in 1955. He was an Engineering Technician at the University of Lowell Research Foundation working on Atmospheric Research with his colleagues for over 40 years. Richard was an active member of several organizations including Thomas Talbot Lodge A.F. & A.M., Billerica Chapter #212 Order of the Eastern Star, Aleppo Shriners, Wilmington, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite in the Lowell and Boston Jurisdictions, Two Step Club and the Billerica Senior Center. Richard was also a licensed Radio and TV Technician as a Master Technician and a licensed Hamm Radio operator. He was an avid lover of Music and traveled frequently to Nashville. He was lovingly known as “Willie” for the love of his music and his appearance resembling the music legend. Richard the devoted father and is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law; Linda and Charlie Powderly of Westminster, Robin and Tom Robbins of Dracut and Paula and Jim LaPerriere of Lewiston, ME. He is also survived by his brothers, Bruce Bemis and his wife Janice and Wayne Bemis and his wife Shirley, his (8) grandchildren, Candi Brenn and her husband Ron, Michael Powderly, Kevin Sullivan and wife Carrie, Thomas (TJ) Robbins and his wife Christy, Jennifer Ross and her husband Gary, Steven Fudge and his wife Danielle, Katie Pimental and her husband Paul and Jeremy LaPerriere and his (10) great-grandchildren, Aaron, Dylan, Lauren, Kailyn, Amber, Kelsey, Colton S., Landon, Colton P. and Jayson. He is also survived by in-laws Richard Anderson of Lowell, Douglas Smith, of Maryland and Kristina Hebel of North Carolina. Richard has many extended family and friends from many different communities that will miss him dearly.
