When me and Dave were like, 13 and 15 respectively, we met TOMMY and Alex and Madeline and their people and they welcomed us into the sanctuary of their rent control apartment on top of a three flat .
It was the coolest thing I had ever seen and it’s still Is. I had found Peter Pan’s never never land. Kids like us with their own place and an indestructible KLH record player and stereo system... he and his people had a profoundly positive effect on my adolescence and was among my best lifetime friends.
Tommy is one of those people who is themselves and seemed like he had has always been the same person the whole time. A solid reliable dude. A powerful work ethic, he made things happen- he always had a couple grand in the bank as a buffer. From those days, it would be years before I learned how to stop being a bum, but eventually, for me, Tommy was always A good role model to follow. Tommy Cuningham is alive,I just cannot see him anymore.
Mortality sucks. I am fuckin devastated.
