Obituary of Gerald D. Sunderman

CMSGT Gerald Dean Sunderman, 84, of Billerica, MA, passed away peacefully on February 11th, 2024, at the Blair House of Tewksbury.
A visitation will be held at Burns Funeral Home of North Billerica on Sunday, February 18th between 12pm-3pm. Memorial Service will be held at North Billerica Baptist Church, 39 Old Elm St, North Billerica MA. On Monday, February 19th at 11am with military honors.
Gerald was born in Stanton, Nebraska to Lester and Phylis Sunderman on February 8th, 1940. He went to high school in Beatrice, Nebraska. He went on to earn a degree in business. He then joined the Air Force in 1959 and served for 27 years, retiring as a Chief Master Sargent in 1986. He served in Vietnam as well as serving with NATO. He enjoyed flying as a young man in the Beatrice Airport. As well as building model airplanes. He was an active participant of the North Billerica Baptist Church and involved in organizations such as the VFW, American Legion, and AFSA.
Gerald is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ute E Krueck Sunderman of Billerica MA. His brother Robert Sunderman and spouse Judy Sunderman, 2 children Till-Nicholas L Sunderman, Katja Sunderman-Mackenzie and spouse John A Mackenzie, and grandchildren Samantha Sunderman-Drakeford and spouse Shadeed Drakeford, Christina Lavoie and spouse Brian Lavoie, Emilie Mackenzie, Jakob Sunderman, Benjamin Sunderman, Steven Sunderman, Kimberly, and Julia Sunderman and 7 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his great grandson Zacharias Sunderman, brother James Sunderman, and brother Randal Sunderman.
Memorial donations may be made to Wounded Warriors Projector Shriners Hospital. Gerald was a loving husband, brother, father, Opa, and friend. His presence will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of meeting him. Ruhe sanft bis wir uns Wiedersehen.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday, February 18, 2024 in the Burns Funeral Home, 354 Boston Rd., ( Rt. 3A), Billerica from 12:00 to 3:30 pm. Relatives and friends invited. Funeral service in North Billerica Baptist Church, 39 Old Elm St., North Billlerica, Monday, February 19, at 11:00 AM.
